Charles was the son of Frederick and Lilian
Pritchard who had come originally from Wellow. He had
worked on Pobjoys farm, now Upper Farm Close and was also a
member of the Territorial Army, The Wessex Regiment
The Dutch town of Brunssum was liberated by
U.S. forces in September 1944.They were followed shortly
afterwards by the British 43rd (Wessex) Division who made
their headquarters there
A number of men were killed. Sapper Pritchard
died clearing mines and booby traps near the German border.
He is buried in Brunssum War Cemetery Limburg Netherlands
Charles left a widow, and a son, born after
his fathers death |
