Aim of Foundation War Cemetery Brunssum

Foundation War Cemetery Brunssum offers the possibility to adopt a fallen liberator’s grave to those who are interested. Furthermore the Foundation considers the administration of the adoptionregister as one of the spear-heads of her tasks.

Rules of the Foundation

The adoption of a grave of a fallen liberator at Brunssum War Cemetery involves:

- Visiting the grave. The frequency is to be decided by the adoptant him/herself.
- Placing fowers on the grave at special occasions (e.g National Memorial Day- 4th May, Poppy Day – 11th November or during Christmastime). Because of the maintenance any other decoration besides flowers is unwished for.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is the responsable organization for the grounds and maintenance of Brunssum War Cemetery. Our maintenanceteam, based at Mierlo, takes care of the daily upkeeping of this cemetery. The flowerbeds on all our cemetries all over the world are kept according to a definite scheme that has to be respected.

Therefore we have to point out to our adoptants that removing and planting plants and shrubs are strictly forbidden. Only flowers or the official poppy wreaths of the Royal British Legion are allowed on the graves.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

The adoptants receive a certificate on which are stated the personal facts of the fallen liberator as known by the Foundation and Cemetery.

As a compensation for the costs of administration we ask an annual contribution of a minimum of
€ 5,00 per adopted grave. This contribution can be transferred to our bankaccount:
NL14RABO0160848210 in the name of Foundation War Cemetery Brunssum.

If you are in the happy circumstances to be able to support the Foundation with a larger amount, this will be accepted with extreme gratitude. Apart from this, gifs by private persons, enterprisers or firms are more than welcome.

The Board of the Foundation consists exclusively of volunteers, thus enabling to spend the entire income on flowers and welcoming familymembers.

Meanwhile the Foundation has been acknowledged by the Inland Revenu as a so called Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling, ( a Common Use Aiming Institution) in short: an ANBI.

Consequently a gift to the Foundation is fully free of gift- and inheritancetaxes. Thus the Foundation is an official Goed Doel ( Good Intention).

Moreover you can deduct a donation to the Foundation on your income- or companytaxes. The legislator opens for this purpose some possibilities, amongst others as a periodical gift.

The Foundations kindly asks the adoptants to update the administration with all relevant changes that are of importance to the adoptionregister, like change of address or in the event of death. As well we request parents who pass on an adoption to their children, to inform the Foundation.
