Hello Peter,

My name is John Davies and my father Sidney Arthur Davies is buried in the War Cemetery in Brunssum. He died on 9th December 1944, and was a rifleman in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles).

My wife and I visit the cemetery every year, and I visit near Christmas to place a Christmas wreath on my father's grave. I was surprised and pleased to find a photograph of the grave on the website, and to find so much information about the activities that take place there on Remembrance Day. The history is also very interesting.

I have an old photograph of Mr and Mrs Gelders standing by my father's grave. This was probably taken in 1945. I also have a letter they sent at that time to my mother. I was only three weeks old when my father was killed.

It is very nice to know that he is not forgotten.

My wife and I will be visiting Brunssum again in April this year, and I would be interested to visit the Brunssum Archive Office
