General Stöckmann lays wreath at Brunssum & British War Cemetery - 4 May 1996

General Stöckmann laid a wreath at the Brunssum and British War Cemetery, marking an historical and unique event. General Dieter Stöckmann gave Dutch-German relations a tremendous positive boost. For the first time in Dutch post World War II history the General, being a German Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces in Central Europe, accepted the invitation from the "Orange Committee of Brunssum" to lay a wreath at the Brunssum Cemetery and British War Cemetery on 4 May 1996. Queen Beatrix acknowledged and appreciated General Stöckmann's active role in this ceremony.
